Sustainability

Being sustainable is all of our responsibilities.  At Mackie Opticians we are the sustainability journey to protect our planet, our people and our communities either by reducing, reusing or recycling.

Examples of this include using renewable energy, installing smart meters, reducing the use of full time daily disposable contact lenses, recycling contact lens packaging as over 25% of patients put used contact lenses down the toilet, recycling spectacles, reducing our carbon footprint by offering patients multiple appointments – services or partners such as using a pharmacist on the same day, recycling waste, reusable staff water bottles and filter water bottle to prevent use of single use plastic, using PFC accredited recycle paper, installing LED lighting, echo conscious frames and cases, planting trees to offset our carbon footprint, using B corp certified companies to ensure that there is no green washing, reducing supplier deliveries by increasing our stock and only using companies that use sea freight rather than air freight.
