Support for your lenses and frames means FREE spectacles are available or trade up to different frame or lens options depending on your preference and needs. We also are pleased to accept any prescriptions from other opticians, and offer a FREE recheck before any order.

By having our own workshops, the lenses can be prepared in advance and can be fitted into your own frame in ten minutes meaning you can use your existing frame. Also our new Essilor lathe provides up to the minute technology and combined with a full explanation of different lens types (i.e. distance, near, bifocal, multifocal, tints, thinner designs) and frame types (i.e. budget, metal, plastic, hypo allergenic, rimless ), you will receive the highest quality advice and service.

We provide special spectacles for VDU use and an eight part additional VDU test is performed in relation to the Display Screen Equipment Regulations. Safety spectacles are also available with appropriate advice given on toughened lenses and frame design.
[ico_arrow]Specialist Clinics-Eye Casualty, Magnifiers, Dry Eye, Dyslexia, Ophthalmology and Driving.
Eye Casualty Clinic
-As part of Lanarkshire LENS scheme we diagnose and treat eye emergencies and/or triage to the Ophthalmology at the local hospitals (Monklands, Wishaw General or Hairmyres).
Magnifiers Clinic-Drs Scott & Roisin Mackie hold supplementary qualifications in assessing patients whose vision can no longer be improved with conventional spectacles, and provide specialist magnifiers. A new pilot scheme can provide FREE magnifiers to residents of Lanarkshire.
Dry/Wet Eye Clinic
-Drs Scott & Roisin Mackie have a PhD in medical optometry and providies assessment of dry/wet eyes. Treatments include Blephex to clean the eyelids, fitting Punctum plugs and/or provide lacrimal syringing to eliminate or severely reduce symptoms.
Dyslexia Clinic
-We assess children for visual signs and symptoms of dyslexia and can provide coloured overlays to improve reading speed and comprehension.
Private Ophthalmology Clinic
-Mackie Opticians works with specialist providers to offer patients another alternative to NHS clinics or procedures not generally available on the NHS including refractive surgery. Drs Scott and Roisin Mackie will discuss these alternative pathways to you if appropriate.
Driving Clinic
-We provide a DVLA approved peripheral vision check.
