Mackie Opticians – COVID-19 Practice

COVID-19 – Update Guidance

We realise these might be uncertain times, so we wanted to keep you updated on all we’re doing here at Mackie Opticians to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus and to help protect our patients.

For the majority of our patients, the practices remain open for both routine eye examinations and eye casualty cases. In our patient waiting areas there are tissues available for customers, so if you feel a sneeze or cough coming during your visit with us, please help yourself.  They’ll also be there for use if you need to touch your face.

There is also hand sanitiser gel available for patient use within our practices, and please be assured our staff have access to their own hand sanitiser gel and regularly wash hands between patient visits.
We are also regularly disinfecting our waiting areas with multi-surface spray and we are wiping down any equipment with universal wipes, and using disposable items where possible.
Within our stores, there is public access to a sink where patients will be encouraged to wash their hands and disposable paper towels for drying.

Patients in vulnerable groups and suffering from health issues such as cancer, diabetes, chronic lung disease and/or on immunosuppressive tablets should only attend emergency appointments. We may use disposable gloves when consulting these patients. Elderly patients who are well can be seen for routine appointments at their own discretion. If you have a high temperature or fever, are suffering from a persistent cough or shortness of breath, please do not attend your appointment.

We can post spectacles out to all patients if any widespread ban on people movement comes into force.
If you have questions, or require special assistance then please give us a call on 01698 854858.
