Thank You – From Mackie Opticians

These unprecedented times are challenging for all of us, but we’re seeing increased activity of goodwill in our local community and around the world. It’s helping all to stay positive, so we wanted to give a special mention to those who have gone that extra mile to help us and our patients over the last few weeks.

Thank you to Thea Pharmaceuticals for supplying FREE prescription eye medications, which allows us to treat our patients quicker.

Thank you to Abbeygreen Pharmacy in Lesmahagow, and thank you to Boots Pharmacy in Bothwell for co-ordinating our deliveries.

Thank you to the NHS and D&E Products in Hamilton for getting our PPE equipment to us facilitating patient safety.

Thank you to all of the local GP Surgeries, Pharmacies and Opticians for triaging patents to us, as we have been designated an NHS Emergency Eye Treatment Centre.

And finally, a big THANK YOU to all of our patients for only attending appointments for essential and emergency eyecare, and helping to keep others safe by doing so.

We’re trying to find the positives in the everyday, knowing this won’t last forever, and the kindness shown by others to friends, family, colleagues and strangers is helping to keep spirits high.

We hope you’re all keeping safe and well, thank you for staying home.

New Triage Appointment System

Mackie Opticians have taken the difficult decision to now furlough all support staff.
Please be assured Dr Scott Mackie and Dr Roisin Mackie will still provide emergency, and essential eye care, at both of our Bothwell and Lesmahagow practices respectively.
We look forward to welcoming our support staff back as soon as possible.

What do I need to do if I need eye care?
Patients are requested to phone our Bothwell practice (01698 854858) or our Lesmahagow practice (01555 893929) to be diverted to a triage telephone assessment.
If the symptoms are such that an assessment can be made remotely, advice can be given and a prescription issued for medication if appropriate. If a physical assessment is required, an appointment time will be given so the patient can be seen at our nearest practice.

We hope you’re all keeping safe and well.
The Mackie Eyecare Team.
